COVID-19

New procedures in place for Coronavirus, COVID-19

April 1st 2020

Advanced Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery is committed to doing everything we can to safely care for you and our staff as we face the challenges imposed by the coronavirus, COVID-19. We accept this responsibility with the utmost importance and diligence.

As an initial response to the risks associated with Covid-19, we made an immediate and conscious decision to reduce our non-essential activity, minimising the risk of exposure for you and our staff, while allowing us to best focus on our clinical services like trauma and cancer care.

The subsequent directive issued by the State Co-ordinator restricting elective surgery to only the most urgent categories and prohibiting the performance of a range of non-essential treatments is consistent with our view. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, but by limiting our activity in this way we are pleased to play our part in preserving scarce health resources for those who may desperately need them as a result of COVID-19 infection.

For our patients who continue to need to see us, we are extremely pleased to care for you but encourage you to think carefully about your own COVID-19 risk factors, for your own protection and the protection of our staff.

Please understand that, prior to your appointment, we must ask you about your health and that of your family, your recent travel commitments (both interstate and overseas), and whether you may have been exposed in any way to COVID-19 or been asked to self-isolate. We’ll also check your temperature. If your answers indicate that you may be at risk, or your temperature is high, you will be unable to proceed with your consultation or treatment at Advanced Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery.

If there is any doubt at all, we will be very cautious and ask that you leave our practice and make arrangements over the phone to move your appointment, and we will make sure you seek further medical care if appropriate. We may be able to reschedule your appointment to a time when you have been completely clear of concerns for 14 days, or it may be appropriate that we can best assist you with a telephone consultation.

If your procedure has been cancelled, or you’ve been unable to book in for a regular appointment, we sincerely apologise and very much look forward to welcoming you back when circumstances have changed.

For referrals regarding skin lesions, trauma cases and any urgent referrals we will arrange the next available appointment within the week.

Thank you for your understanding - please contact us on (08) 8297 1476 between 9.00am and 3.00pm Monday – Friday with the exception of Public Holidays should you have any concerns prior to attending your appointment.

As a private practice, our priority is to provide safe and appropriate health care for our patients. We are monitoring expert guidelines regarding the COVID-19 virus and we are adapting our practices accordingly.

We know that hand hygiene and self-isolation are still the best way we can reduce the spread of the virus.

We are putting in place measures to allow patients to access consultations with our doctors and nurses over the phone and other ways to minimise face-to-face contact within our practice. This is to protect our vulnerable patients, keep our staff healthy and to concentrate our resources on those who most urgently require our care.

We ask that you please contact us via phone or email regarding the option of postpone non-essential appointments.

If you have any of the following we ask that you please not attend the practice:

  • Fever over 37.5
  • Cough
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Sore throat

OR

  • Have travelled interstate or overseas in the last 14 days
  • Have had contact with someone diagnosed or suspected to have COVID-19

If you do need to attend your appointment we ask that you:

  • Come alone or with ONE carer if essential
  • Observe strict hand hygiene
  • Pay via credit card or EFTPOS to avoid handling cash

We hope that with decisive, early action, we can slow down the spread of viral infections by meeting this challenge together.

If you have an upcoming appointment, please call (08) 8297 1476 between 9.00am and 3.00pm Monday – Friday with the exception of Public Holidays with any concerns or questions.
